ECI-Petach Tikva
On International Human Rights Day in 2006, in partnership with the Petach Tikva-based international telecom company ECI, YEDID opened the Citizen Rights Center in Petach Tikva. YEDID was chosen to be ECI's flagship volunteer project: "Together with the Community." The Center assists hundreds of local residents from all sectors of the community: religious and secular, veteran Israelis and new immigrants.
The Center is directed by Liat Arbel who works with close to 20 dedicated volunteers. Liat also participates in an "Employment Roundtable"—a cooperative effort of local organizations that work on employment issues, as well as the "Forum of Single Mothers"—a group of community activists that work to promote the rights of single mothers.
Recent Activities
In the first half of 2011, the Petach Tivka Center has assisted in 442 new client cases, mostly on issues of debt management, housing rights and employment law. As well as assisting individuals, Center volunteers run a number of community programs including Family Budget Management courses. The most recent finished in July 2011 and was for a group of Ethiopian-Israelis. In 2010 the Petach Tivka Center pioneered YEDID's Financial Management program for children together with ECI.
The Petach Tivka Citizen Rights Center is generously funded by
