A gleaning project to fight hunger in Israel was one of 15 local and international programs to receive grants from the Jewish Community Foundation of Southern Arizona this year.
NIF grantee Yedid, The Association for Community Empowerment now plans hundreds of appeals to local and labor courts

As part of the program's emphasis on individual responsibility and community involvement, the Moreshet planners turned to Livnot U'Lehibanot and Yedid from the TZAHAR Region to put together a mifgash (meeting) between the Moreshet participants and the Partnership 2000 region's youth and a volunteer day following.
"Mr. M", an elderly Hazor resident, lived in squalid conditions and had neither the resources nor family or friends to help. After getting the call from a concerned friend, Livnot U'Lehibanot went to work.

This activity is called "Derech HaOchel" - meaning (1) "through the food", (2) "the way this food or recipe was prepared". The idea was cooking together - Hatzor womwn, Tzahar teachers, and Palm Beach teachers - and at the same time discussing and getting to know each other.
